One activity that has been a hit in my classroom is the “Pick a Number” activity which I started incorporating into my discussion since last year. This activity involves students selecting a number card and then answering a question or prompt that is written or pasted on the back of each card. Instructions and Mechanics

  1. The teacher prepares a cutout of numbers and paste each one of them on the number cards. You can use used folders or any cardboard readily available within your place.
  2. The teacher prepares a set of questions or challenges written on strips of paper and attaches them at the back of each number card. The questions and challenges should revolve around the lesson or topic you have for that day.
  3. During discussion, the teacher posts these cutouts on the board in such a manner that it looks like a Tic-Tac-Toe tiles and tells the students that they need to accomplish this Pick A Number activity.
  4. The teacher may randomly call or choose some learners who will come forward and pick a number.
  5. The activity continues when the first learner answers the questions. The same process applies to the succeeding learners who will pick a scoop and answer the question written on it.
