Before, I have to admit, I was overly concerned about what other people may say about me. I even laid much importance on the way they would see me and look at me as a person.
I always had this thinking that it was my duty to better myself so that they would treat me right. Not until someone made me realize that it was not my business at all to worry too much about what they would have to say about me.
One of my mentors illuminated me regarding these three (3) kinds of business you will have in your life and which among the three you should focus on.
The first type of business is known as OTHER PEOPLE’S BUSINESS.
This encompasses what they think about you, they tell you, they do unto you, how they treat you, and even why they treat you that way. This is something beyond your control. You cannot take control of other people’s impressions and thoughts about you. It is their business. There’s no need for you to meddle with how they run their business.
In life, you will encounter people who may either do good or do bad unto you. People may hurt you, take advantage of you, embarrass you, or even destroy you. Remember that it is not your fault. Whatever they do unto you, it does not reveal who you are. But instead, it reveals what kind of person they are. After all, it’s not your business if they choose to be bad. It’s their choice.
The second one is GOD’S BUSINESS.
You might have heard it before. It’s kinda cliche when we say, when things are meant for you, these will be yours. That’s how God’s business works. He knows the loving thing for all of us. When He does not give what we want, it doesn’t necessarily mean it was not meant to be ours. Perhaps, He has bigger plans for us.
When we experience delays, it could be detours leading us to a way brighter future or a way more beautiful destination. It’s also beyond our control for it’s God whom it depends on. The only thing we have to do is to accept it and move forward. Let go and let God take over.
The third one is YOUR BUSINESS.
This revolves around what you can do in your life. This requires you and only you to take actions on how you want your life to be. It basically gives you the freedom to make significant changes in your life for it solely depends on you alone. As the old adage goes, your life is what you make it. You have full control of your business. If you want to make something happen, do it.
The only business you can have full control of is YOUR BUSINESS for it requires your decisions, your actions, and your responses. You have to remember that you make your own business. What you are capable of doing and creating is your business. And it’s all up to you if you want to grow that business. So, better make the most out of it.
When things go your way and how you envisioned them, it’s absolutely your business. When things turn out as how you planned them, God might have given you His blessing. He might have felt what is in your heart and granted it.
The Bottomline
Now, it’s all on you which business you want to focus on. However, mind which can benefit you most.
Other people’s business may either build you or destroy you. Again, it is something you cannot control. It’s okay to go through terrible situations like that.
While you think God’s business is inevitable, you have to remember that God’s business, no matter how long you waited for it, or how much you lose to pursue it, it is always good for you. It is simply because God knows what’s best for you.
However, while you still have much time, do your thing. Keep going. Mind your own business. Mind what you are capable of doing and give it your all. Remember, you may not be able to change what happened in the past, but you have the power to make what’s in front of you pretty amazing.
